The New Tune

Alrighty,

As some of you may have seen on a particular social networking sight, I hung out with Brandon Friebe tonight and dove head first into a new song that he had been writing.

Brandon is a talented songwriter, so it was no surprise to me that this particular song showed a tremendous amount of potential straight away. After listening to the tune a couple of times and sharing some ideas that came to me right up front, Brandon explained that this was a worship song meant to encourage anyone who had decided that sometimes it's better to just give up. That this is a song for anyone who ever wanted to 'just thrown their hands up and forget it' as he put it.

When you get down to the brass tacks of it, any song that is successful is a song that is 'relatable'. Successful songs are the kind of songs that almost anyone in any walk of life can say 'that's me', or 'I TOTALLY get it'. That is where I feel this song is headed. Let's face it, who HASN'T 'given up' at some point or another. Most of us go through this sort of circumstance on far more than one occasion and I think that's where this song has the potential to shine

As far as the song goes in terms of music, it's got hooks, the melody is great, and the music is interesting to hear but just simple enough to give the instruments room to move and breath. It is my opinion that the direction that Brandon is going with this particular tune is spot on. If this particular songwriting trend continues, you'll see Brandon and his studio Faith Driven Productions churning out some very impacting and inspiring albums.

Until next time......
