Well, it's official. We are on schedule to release a 5 song EP with Delaney around mid-April. Our meeting was what I would consider to be very productive. We've taken full care and mapped out everything, but let's start from the beginning, shall we.....? =)
You can always identify genuine excitement in a person when you see it. This occasion was certainly no different. From the moment that I invited Delaney inside until the time that she left, there was no mistaking the sense of anticipation. I spent the entire meeting encouraged by the notion that this is an artist who truly has what it takes to succeed, most importantly being her motivation coupled with her rare amount of natural ability as a vocalist. So often you will find one of these qualities present within an individual while the other is absent. It's safe to say that both qualities are present in Delaney and those who listen to her finished product will find this fact undeniable.
We sat and brainstormed for roughly 2 1/2 hours discussing countless possibilities for her project. Being that this EP will be used as a fundraiser event for an upcoming missions trip for Delaney, we wanted to finalize a playlist of songs that would impact the listener while introducing new realms of musical translation at the same time. We ultimately decided that the course for her EP should be a sort of 'something old, something new' approach. 'Something old' in that we have chosen a list of some of the Christian community's most beloved worship songs all the while instilling a sense of freshness through musical and instrumental interpretation. Believe me when I say that our vision for these old favorites will make them seem as new and interesting as the first time you listened to the original releases.
As our initial gathering came to a close, there was a definite sense of accomplishment among the group that was present. It is strongly believed that we have an opportunity to produce a genuinely insightful take on these familiar tracks when this project comes to fruition. We feel that you as the listener will be able to experience the power of these well known worship anthems in a very new and (hopefully) enlightening way.
